Deputy of Academic Affairs in University of Michigan Lester P. Monts Visits Our School

Vice president of Renmin University of China, professor Chen Yulu, Party secretary and deputy dean of School of Arts, professor Zhen Xiaohua, deputy of academic affairs in University of Michigan professor Lester P. Monts and director of international development department in Health Management Research Center professor Louis Wen visited Department of Music in our school. 
 
University of Michigan, established in 1817, is the first public university in northwest of America. After establishment, it has excellent achievements in different kinds of fields with great influence, with name of “Public Ivy League” and “Model of Public University. University of Michigan is one of 12 initiators of Association of American Universities (Harvard University, Yale University, Princeton University, Stanford University, Columbia University, Cornell University, University of California Berkeley, University of Chicago, University of Pennsylvania, Johns Hopkins University and University of Wisconsin).

Lester P.Monts is a professor in ethnomusicology, with research on music and culture system of Vai People in Liberia, is thought as world-class researcher on researching music and culture in Gulf of Guinea Region in West African. Dean of Department of Music professor Zhao Fang introduced academic program and teaching situation of Department of Music to the guests. Professor Lester P. Monts appreciated the dance drama composed by professor Zhao Fang, which reflected that customs and habits of the Tujia Nationality of China. Piano students in Department of Music played Beethoven Piano Sonatas for the guests.
 
Deputy Dean of our school Zhen Xiaohua and Professor Lester P.Monts had a conversation on fields of study. Teachers of Department of Music Zhang Fang, Yang Yi also took part in the meeting.
